The FRENCH takover MCCARREN

December 15th, we French Bulldog owners decided to congregate in the small dog park at McCarren for the sake of our little snorting buddies, who need to chase each other and face off in a game of tug-o-war from time to time. And that's exactly what happened. Thanks to Matt Herr {Tank's owner} for the awesome shots!

McCarren Dog Run Association

A little background just in case you don't know...in NYC dog runs are recognized by the parks department, but are NOT MAINTAINED by the city...it is up to the dog owners and users of the park to get involved and push initiatives for the dog parks, like cleanups. In this way, NYC dog people can really distinguish themselves and their local dog run simply by getting involved.

That said...some exciting news: I've joined the board of McCarren Dog Run Association, a registered 501C3. After getting involved with some volunteer opportunities to clean up the park and joining conversations with the local Google group, it became obvious to fellow board member Christine that I was interested in getting involved on a deeper level. She has introduced me to the board, where it became obvious that her and some of the other long time board members are interested in moving on and having some fresh faces join the board to replace a few seats....

So, I hope you are now inspired to get involved!  if you are interested in getting more emails regarding McCarren Dog Run issues/events, you can start by emailing a request to join the Google group at mcdogrun@gmail.com . If you think you'd be an asset to the board, please contact me to discuss ASAP.

Awesome, long live democracy!

MEET TODD!

As many of you know, I had been accpeting applications for a new dog walker to join the pack for nearly 2 months before I found Todd Weinstock. It didn't take long for me to realize that I could finally stop accepting new applications, because I found the right guy. He was good handling 4 dogs immediately and had a kind, approachable energy. In fact, it was a good sign to me that, during the interview process, I happened to be walking 3 dogs passed a yoga studio in the morning, and he was waiting in line with his yoga mat, looking all zen. We talked a bit...and I was impressed with his modesty & the things we discussed. Bottom line = He's bringing good vibes to the tribe.

Anyway, Todd lives near McGolrick Park with his fiance, Jenny and their Cairns Terrier, Whoopi. They are available to board dogs and have already done so multiple times. Jenny is awesome too and they are ready to meet new clients whenever. We're all flexible. Some of you might also like to know that Todd's an active musician and producer, with a deep network in the music industry.

He's a really an interesting guy, so if you'd like to have a meeting with him, we can arrange for that...or you can just come to the next Dog-E-Party! {More details on that soon}

Todd's way with dogs and his way of life are in line with what Dog-E-Dog needs in a walker. So, please all join me in welcoming Todd into the pack....Woof!

GEORGE is couch surfing right now...

Meet George. He's up for adoption. This handsome fella happened to stop by Luckydog while we were having our party, in fact if you look hard enough you can find a picture of him in the last blogpost. Anyway, as luck would have it, we met again at McCarren park the very next day. I learned that Mr. George is 2 or 3 years old and highly social with kids, adults and other dogs. He is house trained and doesn't bark much, if at all. In general, George is an absolute sweetheart. He is up for adoption through Badass Brooklyn Animal Rescue. For more information contact Erica at zen1229@gmail.com

Well, It's reassuring to know you're in good hands along your journey 'home', George!

LUCK-E-DOG PARTY!

Luckydog bar was gracious enough to host me and lots of my clients out on their awesome backyard patio on Bedford Ave. Sandwiches from Anthony & Sons and beer specials floating around were nice to have, as we watched, laughed at and shooed away dogs all around us. Playing, roaming, resting, begging, jumping into random laps and lots of water drinking.

Success! these dog parties are proving to be quite fun and people are offering up their places now to host small get togethers. I like where this is going....so don't be sad you missed out on this one, because there will soon be more & more!

Top 4 photos were taken from my instagram account @dogedog . The rest I took with my DSLR, which reminded me how hard it is to actually take a good action photograph manually.
